In this post, I've collected some items that I made either for my kids or with them for the holidays.

Xmas wreath from recycled materials

We received a challenge at my son's school to prepare items related to Christmas, all from rubbish. This is my nomination to the exhibition - a wreath made from platic bottles, empty pizza box, plastic wrappers and a lightbulb.

Popcorn tree

In Hungary, popcorn was traditionally used to decorate Christmas trees, in the form of garlands. Now I show you a more sophisticated version of using popcorn as Christmas decoration - you can build a Christmas tree with them. The popcorn will give a warm and natural feeling to your tree, and you can add glossy and sparkling accessories to make it more elegant  and stylish.

Christmas is coming - wreaths

Since I was 18, I've always prepared the Christmas wreath myself. I think this is the first steps to get into Christmas mood. This is always the first piece of Christmas decoration in our house, and after the first Sunday, I start to decorate the rest of the house. Here I have collected my works from the past few years.

Xmas wreath from pistachio shells

Everyone in our family loves pistachios. The idea of using up the shells for a handycraft project came to my mind one day when I saw a bowl of empty shells, thinking they are too nice to be thrown away. They would serve well for natural autumn or Christmas decorations. This time, I prepared Xmas wreaths from them, decorated with red and gold ribbons - simple but elegant.

Falling leaves

This year, we were really lucky to have a long, warm autumn with beautiful weather and beautiful colours. Every autumn, I try to gather colourful fallen leaves in every possible shape and size. With the kids, we normally preserve them and create animals or trees using the leaves. This year, I tried a different technique and painted the silhouettes of the leaves on canvas.

3D paper acquarium

I saw this idea on the Internet and fell in love with it, so we made our version with my 5 year old son. I downloaded colouring sheets of fish from websites and he selected the ones he liked. I did all the cutting and gluing and let him paint the fish alone.

Colouring

The past 2 months have been quite stressful for the whole family, so my husband has bought me a colouring book (Johanna Basford: Enchanted Forest) to help calm down my nerves. I can say I really enjoy colouring it and the book made me an addict. You cannot simple leave a picture until it is finished. And why would it be the priviledge of only kids to colour?
Of course, I gave the some of the pages to my kids but usually hide the book and my pencils carefully :)

Pringles boxes reborn

My son had a period when he enjoyed preparing and playing with puppets. We prepared puppets for cartoon caracters, animals, Angry Birds, etc. But where to keep them? I had the idea to use empty Pingles crips boxes, redecorated to fit his room. So, these were born and have been serving us sinces then.

Halloween decorations

Now we have our standard Halloween decoration set on top of preparing the lanterns. All of them are easy to prepare, and you can do it with your kids.

My cute little snowmen

Christmas decoration idea
Snowmen
These little snowman (and snowgirls) have become my obsession for this season. Originally, I started to create them for a school fair, but obviously had to keep some of them at home, and also decided to prepare some as Xmas gifts. So I have 15 and still counting...
They are so cute and easy to prepare - appr. 5 minutes each.

Pumpkins forever

Although Hungary has different traditions at All Saints' Day, Halloween has also appeared here in the past years. We also decorate our house around the mid of October and of course, prepare our own lanterns. This collection shows you how I've developed my skills during the years, from basics to really difficult ones.
